Godot C# packages move to .NET 8
Share
"After having stayed on .NET 6 since the initial release of Godot 4, the upcoming Godot 4.4 release [finally moves to .NET 8](https:\/\/godotengine.org\/article\/godotsharp-packages-net8\/). In the announcement, it says:\r\n> Starting with Godot 4.4, your project will need to target .NET 8 or newer, otherwise it will be incompatible with the new GodotSharp packages. \r\n\r\nIf you're using an older version of .NET, don't worry, as you'll still be able to use other libraries that target older .NET versions.\r\n\r\nWhat does this mean for you? As written in the announcement:\r\n> Existing projects will be automatically upgraded to target net8.0 when they are opened with Godot 4.4. If your project already targets .NET 8 or newer, nothing will change. \r\n\r\nSo - good news if you want to target newer functionality available in .NET or newer (you can always target .NET 9 if you want, for instance), and it's always nice to see the C# functionality being kept up-to-date!\r\n\r\nThey also highlight how their upcoming roadmap affects .NET support in Godot:\r\n\r\n\r\nYou can read more in the full announcement: https:\/\/godotengine.org\/article\/godotsharp-packages-net8\/"
